Stud Innovation

Snowmobile Stud Construction

The stud bodies of all Extreme Max studs are constructed from hardened military grade stainless steel so these studs can whether the elements and will not rust. The two-step inert gas heat treatment process provides a 30% increase in abrasion resistance and a 25% increase in bend resistance. Plus with the exclusive taper profile these snowmobile studs provide maximum carbide insert protection. Another great feature is that these snowmobile studs are completely constructed in the USA!

Snowmobile Stud Head Features

Extreme Max Platinum Series Studs feature a true 1.0" head design that provides up to 36% more track contact area than the competition. For today’s thinner O.E.M. tracks Extreme Max offers the Fat Head Series Studs that feature a 1.16" oversized head. Both series of snowmobile studs sit flush with your track which allows you to turn freeily and easily without any chatter.
The competition uses an outdated hex drive design. Extreme Max uses the Torx drive head which is 30% stronger than the hex drive studs. The Torx drive head resists stripping and makes the critical base area of the studs stronger and more resistant to breakage.

Anti-Spin

Proper traction cannot be achieved if your snowmobile stud, nut and backer are not firmly in place. A common problem experienced by snowmobile stud users is backer spin which ultimately affects the traction between your snowmobile studs and the snow or ice. In order to prevent this problem Extreme Max Snowmobile studs have been designed with anti-spin grippers. These grippers help the stud stay secured firmly to the track, which helps the backer resist spinning. An added bonus is that the anti-spin grippers help the stud maintain stability during installation.

Torx Drive

A lot of the snowmobile studs still feature a hex drive. Extreme Max Snowmobile studs feature a Torx Drive head which is over 30% stronger than the outdated hex drive. A common problem with the out of date hex drive is stripping, and the Extreme Max T-25 Torx Drive resists stripping and provides extra strength to the base area which is crucial for optimum stud strength and performance.
