Backers

With so many types and varieties of stud backers available on the market today choosing the correct style can be overwhelming. Below we have put together detailed information describing the different aspects of the Extreme Max Snowmobile Stud Backer Line. Ultimately every rider has their own riding style, ride different terrain, and a personal preference when it comes to stud backers. There is no right or wrong choice. This guide simply describes in detail the different features of each snowmobile stud backer that we carry.

Square Aluminum Backer
Our most popular backer is the Square Aluminum Backer. Constructed of premium heat treated aluminum this stud backer provides excellent stability at a great price. Square Aluminum Stud Backers were the first type of backer available on the market. They are widely popular not only due to their economic value but they are also compatible with most snowmobile studs on the market today. Extreme Max carries Square Aluminum Stud Backers in a variety of colors.

Round Aluminum Backer
Extreme Max Round Aluminum Stud Backers are a great choice for a first-time stud user. The round shape of these backers means that there are no corners to orientate during assembly so installation is a breeze. Plus the lack of corners reduces the risk of the backer catching on rough terrain during use. Our Round Aluminum Stud Backers are constructed out of slightly heavier gauge aluminum so it is built strong to last the lifetime of your stud. Available in a variety of colors. *Recommended for Extreme Max Fat Head Snowmobile Studs.*

Square Plastic Backer
The Extreme Max Square Plastic Backer is an extremely affordable option for snowmobile stud users who would like colored backers at a great price. Plus all plastic backers have color distributed throughout so even when scratched or scuffed these backers will maintain their bright shade. The plastic square backers are 30% lighter than their aluminum counterpart so they are a great choice for competitive racers.

Round Plastic Backer
The design of the Extreme Max Round Plastic Backer reduces the chance of damage because there are no corners available to catch on rough terrain. Another great advantage of the round plastic backer is the high profile center which provides added support and security to the snowmobile stud and reduces the need in some cases for taller nuts. This backer is also 10% heavier than the plastic square backer and 20% lighter than aluminum stud backers. All Extreme Max Plastic Stud Backers have color distributed throughout so scratches and scuffs will not affect the color. *Recommended for Extreme Max Fat Head Snowmobile Studs.*

*All Aluminum Backers are available in plain as well as 5 other colors. All aluminum colored stud backers are constructed out of anodized aluminum so color can scratch off when used on extremely rough surfaces.*

Wear Bars

Extreme Max offers a variety of snowmobile carbides/wear bars and we have a fit for almost any sled on the market. When it comes to determining which wear bars are the best for you the most important factor to consider is what type of riding you will be doing, and what your riding style is.

Leisure Riding - Trail Max
Extreme Max recommends the 4" or 6" Trail Max Wear Bars. They have a 7/16" hose bar that provides great steering control and long life. These wear bars are perfect for quick outings, or spending a day on the trails!

Aggressive Riding - Race Max

For the slightly more aggressive riders on the trails and track we recommend the 8" Race Max which is a great high performance wear bar. It allows for excellent traction on corners and prevents rolling.

Competition Riding - Ice Max

The 10" Ice Max is designed for extremely aggressive racers and is recommend for closed course competition only. One great thing about these wear bars is that they are compatible on all skis because studs can be placed wherever they are needed.
